Johnny grew up
In a working class time,
Raised by his mother
And they never had a dime
The life of a child
And the mind of man,
And the kids at school,
He had to take a stand!
His father's not around,
His mom worked 9-5,
A latch key kid at best,
The kid's trying to survive,
His mother tried her best
To give him what she could
The child support once a month
Nearly paid for food,

That his father once said,
"If you're gonna do it,
Do it right and make a friend,
You're friends will always be there,
You know I never will"
The father figure gap
That your friends will have to fill
Johnny's teenage years,
Going to the high school dance,
He's drinking beer and starting fights
And finding true romance,
One thing to remember
Johnny boy would never hide,
He's walking tall and having fun,
His friends will still reside!
